Lawley celebrates the King's coronation in style
Posted on: 12 May 23
On Sunday 7 May, Lawley and other local communities came together to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.
For the first time Lawley Partnership Board organised a Coronation Carnival, which started with a parade and Telford Concert band playing. Then there was an afternoon of fun, while everyone enjoyed their picnics and free ice cream! As well as a variety of stalls, Indian food and Lawley Primary School PTFA providing refreshments, the kids (big and small) had a great time with the traditional funfair games, face painting, inflatables and crafts. We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin, Cllr Raj Mehta and it was great to see Mawley the Lawley mole make an appearance too.
And of course, who could forget the two cake competitions, the judges soon regretted their decision of volunteering as the entries were fantastic and all tasted delicious. A huge thank you goes to everyone who took part and congratulations to the winners, who were Amelia for her crown design and Gosla who created ‘god save the king’.
These events require a great deal of organisation and support and without the following we wouldn’t have been able to put the carnival on. So, on behalf of everyone at Lawley Partnership Board, we would like to say thanks for the following:
