BVT Annual Accounts for Lawley

At BVT we are open, transparent and honest about how we collect and spend the annual community charge all Lawley residents pay.

Below you will find summaries of the audited accounts for the past three years. Each set of accounts are audited and approved by The Board of Trustees of Bournville Village Trust in June of the following year and the summary of accounts will be made publicly available here as soon as possible after the audit and approval process is complete.

The accounts are scrutinised and approved by the resident led Lawley Management Committee who approve the budget for each year.

Did you know? BVT are a registered charity and take no profit from our activities in Lawley and if there has been a surplus, this is refunded to residents accounts during the following year.

If you have any questions about the account summaries below please contact us at [email protected].

Lawley residents regardless of tenure pay the community charge, which goes towards the cost of managing Lawley. Further details of the services provided can be found here.

Budgets are approved by your resident led Lawley Management Committee and below are details of the 2024 community charge as well as the 2022 published accounts.

The community charge has been frozen since 2019, however taking into consideration the current economic climate, increased costs, a renewed grounds maintenance service and the delivery of Lawley Community Hub, the Lawley Management Committee decided to increase the charge by the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 6.7%. This is used because it is also the rate used as the basis for increases to many tax allowances, benefits, and the state pension.

The 2024 community charge is set at £242.75 per household, an increase of £15.25 per year.
If you’d like to discuss the charge, please pop in and see us at the Lawley Community Hub, call us on 0300 333 6540 or email [email protected].

As well as our day-to-day services which include maintaining courtyards, litter picking, estate checks, community engagement, alteration advice and managing the Lawley Community Hub, we have also completed various projects this year, which include:

  • As part of Lawley Partnership board, we’ve helped organise numerous public events including Summerfest and an extremely successful celebration of His Majesty King Charles III’s coronation as well as seasonal events such as the Christmas Carol Concert and Festive Light Switch on.
  • Gained a long-term lease for and relocated the BVT team to the new Lawley Community Hub in Lawley Square; this had been requested by Lawley residents for several years and provides a local base for all to use.
  • Went out to tender for grounds maintenance service, which resulted in a new provider being awarded the contract.
  • Launched or involved with several community groups including the green group, armed forces network and Lawley men’s walking group.

In 2024 projects include:

  • Reviewing the Lawley Design Guide
  • Taking on responsibility for a large part of the green space in Lawley from the developers and Homes England, working with residents to identify new and exciting activities and use for this green space
  • Reviewing and refreshing the way new residents are welcomed in Lawley
  • Continuing to increase the opportunities for residents to become involved in community activities.

The 2024 community charge can be paid in different ways. The easiest way to pay the charge is by direct debit.
