Long-term stewardship

Bournville Village Trust is the long-term steward of Lawley Village, this means we work in partnership with developers and partners to maintain a distinctive and sustainable community.

Bournville Village Trust provide the estates and stewardship service for Lawley. All residents regardless of whether you are a tenant or homeowner pay the community charge. Details of our services provided are below and the annual accounts can be found here.

Long term stewardship in Lawley can be broken down into these four main areas:

  • Liaising with Lawley Management Committee
  • Resident consultations
  • Partnership working
  • Resident workshops
  • Providing a welcome pack to new residents
  • Creating and issuing newsletters & publications
  • Organising and delivering events and activities
  • Staffing costs
  • Providing regular and up to date content on social media and our website
  • Community noticeboards
  • Community groups
  • Liaising with Lawley Management Committee
  • Enforcement of Covenants (as per the Design Guide)
  • Supporting residents with alteration requests
  • Regular inspections
  • Estate dates
  • Advice and information
  • Partnership working
  • Liaison with the developers
  • Staffing costs
  • Legal fees

A proportion of the stewardship charge is set aside to provide the funds to cover major expenditure on repairs and maintenance of areas in BVT management. This includes:

  • Replacement of hard surfaces (tarmac and block paving)
  • Replacement of lampposts
  • Replacement of street furniture
  • Cyclical maintenance of trees
  • Cyclical maintenance of drainage systems/replacement of drainage systems

There are two teams: Ground Maintenance and Estate Caretakers, who carry out the following:

Litter picking
Grass cutting
Hedge pruning
Weed and moss control
Leaf sweeping
Refilling grit bins
Management of courtyards
Management of open spaces (in BVT ownership)
Management of streetlights (in BVT ownership)
Courtyards and open spaces (in BVT ownership)
