Lawley marks VE day

Lawley marks VE day

Posted on: 15 May 25

We were delighted to be involved in the organisation of the VE day celebrations last week. Along with Lawley and Overdale Parish Council we partnered with Sanctuary Supported Living at Lawley Bank Court and Telford Hall Nursing Home to make sure the residents and local community had the opportunity to mark the special day.

As you can see from the video below it was a beautiful day and everyone enjoyed themselves.

The event was sponsored by the care homes, Pride funding from the Parish Council, a VE day grant from Telford & Wrekin Council as well as us. In addition, thank you to Persimmon Homes who paid and organised the traffic management for the road closure and Morrisons in Lawley for some of the food.

Residents enjoyed music, a Winston Churchill lookalike, face painters, circus, crafts, garden games and of course the street party.

Thanks to everyone who came including Shaun Davis MP, Councillors Zona Hannington, Erin Aston and Mark Boylan.

If you enjoyed the celebrations, please share your photos and thoughts below.

Don’t forget if you’d like to see the events taking place in Lawley, you can visit https://bvtlawleyvillage.org.uk/events for details.
