Local care homes commemorate D-Day

To commemorate D-Day we organised themed heritage baking workshops in local care homes Lawley Bank Court and Telford Hall.

Residents and their family and friends were able to enjoy baking, listening to war time music and handling artefacts from BVT’s Selly Manor Museum. The baking was provided by Katie’s Kids Kitchen who usually provides activities during school holidays and was something completely different. As you can see from the photographs everyone loved it and the baking was especially good for residents with dementia, as they mixed, rolled, and cut the scones, which were then baked and enjoyed! It was truly a heart-warming event, with one resident saying, “I can’t remember when I last baked, how lovely is this.”
