Tree works in Clips Moor
Posted on: 26 Feb 25
As part of our regular inspections, we found the large ash tree in Clips Moor is infected with Bracket Fungus. Due to health and safety reasons and providing the best chance for the tree to thrive, work is being carried out to remove the infected areas, so it is kept in a healthy condition.
The work is taking place on Monday 3rd March and is expected to be completed on Tuesday 4th March but we will advise if there will be any delays.
Please be aware:
• The work is being carried out by Acorn Environmental Management Ltd and all operatives are qualified arborists and climbers.
• We are aware the tree contains bat boxes and a (bat) licensed ecologist will be on site to supervise the work ensuring any bats that use the boxes or tree for roosting come to no harm.
• The work area will be barriered off including a safety zone and no one should enter this area.
• A mobile elevated work platform will be used where possible (e.g. a cherry picker). There may be some noise disturbance to nearby homes as chainsaws will be used but their use will be kept to a minimum.
• Acorn Environmental Management Ltd have carried out a full risk assessment and written a rescue plan and designated rescue climber if a situation arises. No members of the public should get involved.
• All wood will be stacked or chipped onto suitable vehicles and removed from site.
Once the work has been carried out the tree will continue to be monitored by BVT’s internal tree specialist as well as specialist external inspectors.
